Wings, bacon cheese fries, Frito pies, delicious burgers, including a Texas Tripler with three patties, cheese, three bacon strips, three onion rings toppling over on your plate. And that’s just the beginning. They also have All-American Philly cheesesteaks, fried fish and chicken baskets. Mexican fare, includes carne guisada, enchiladas, and daily Taco Specials. Move over Starbucks! The Branding Iron is here! This little restaurant in the old historic building on Highway 90 close to the library will capture your attention. The decour is fun with a giant chalkboard displaying the numerous drinks available. Sit at a table, or choose the big leather sofa. Tin paneling completes the ambience, while leaving the historic significance of the building, but making this an interesting little place to visit. Next-door is a fun little gift shop for you to wonder about and see the whimsical items.

Fill up on a giant bottomless glass of tea or lemonade for only a dollar. Or try one of the many coffee selections. The waitress will be happy to explain how a macchiato differs from a latte, and offer you a huge selection of flavors to add to your thoughtfully prepared coffee. Sugarfree flavors are also available. The owner is from the Northwest and brings his favorite menu items to Hondo, offering a small but interesting selection of sandwiches such as Gyros, Chicken Strip Sandwiches, or Southwest Chicken Salad Sandwiches with grapes and walnuts. This is a fun little place to go eat.

It’s clean, quiet, and inexpensive. It’s on the “must try” list!
Lunch is served from 11 AM to 2 PM. 830-931-1175
